It's Time to Shine

Opening Thought:

Today in class, we will be demonstrating your amazing writing skills.  In order for me to prepare accurate instruction on writing, I need to know what you already know, in terms of skill and structure....soooooo.... you will be writing an in-class essay (in pen) on one of three topics.  We will briefly review the three topics and then you will have the rest of the period to write a coherent essay.

Our Agenda:

1.  Turn in anything that you have for the week...letters of intro and/or syllabus
2.  Write!!
3.  HW:  Signed syllabus is due tomorrow; Students need their schedule or ID card to check out textbooks.

Welcome Back!!

Thought of the day....

Welcome!!  Today is the first day of our exciting adventure together in English 2.

A few things to know:

1.  I use technology...be prepared to access the web often.
2.  I expect and give respect.  Respect, manners, and common courtesy help a class run smoothly, safely, and with little disruption.
3.  Materials....a section in a binder, paper, pencil, at least one pen, suggested...highlighter, dry erase marker, ruler.
4.  I don't give busy work; however that means when I assign homework, it needs to be done.
5.  What we don't finish in class, becomes homework (stay on task in class and it reduces the homework)

Assignments:

1. Get syllabus signed by Friday
2. Letter of Introduction due tomorrow 8/13
